The original Morris Cowley motorcar was first built in 1915 and being successful was developed into a delivery van, introduced in 1924. This van is characterised by its use of a slightly flattened version of famous Morris "bullnose" radiator grille.
It handled a load capacity of 8 cwt (circa 400 kg) using a 4-cylinder engine of 1548 cc, developing 11,9 hp and driven through a three speed gearbox.
In 1929 the capacity was increased to 10 cwt (500 kg) by lowering the bodysides.

The Morris Cowley Light Van was a van that had been given the name "Bull Nose" due to the shape of the radiator. The popular car was built with different bodies, including vans. The car had a 1.5 liter engine and a payload of approximately 400 KG.

The (Y47-1) 1929 Morris Cowley light van was introduced in 1991 in the black and yellow livery of Lindt Chocolat.

A promotional Y47 Morris was produced in very limited numbers as a prize in a competition for the Antiques Roadshow Going Live TV show where six were given to contestants as prizes and the remaining 18 being given to staff in the Matchbox Research & Development department. These are known as Code 4 cars made by Matchbox especially for the show.

CODE 4 - Commemorative or one-off models which have been produced on Matchbox premises under Matchbox management supervision and which were never intended to be released to the general public or collectors market.
